Motherwort (Leonurus Cardiaca)

Taste: Bitter, Acrid, Pungent

Actions: Bitter, Nervine Sedative, Emmenagogue, Cardiovascular Trophorestorative, Spasmolytic, Relaxant Diaphoretic

Preparations: Tincture, Infusion, Fomentation

Contraindications: not to be used during pregnancy due to it’s emmenagogue effect. Generally considered a safe and gentle remedy

Herb-Drug Interaction: due to Motherwort’s potential ability to lower blood pressure, caution should be taken if you are taking blood pressure medication. As it is also a nervine sedative it may increase the effects of anxiolytics and opiate based pain medications.
